#davidwalshblog on IRC
I've had some great experiences on the #mootools and #cakephp IRC chat rooms. I've gotten help when I've desperately needed it and have been able to return the favor by giving tips to others. With that spirit in mind, I've created the #davidwalshblog IRC chat room.
My audience is very diverse so expect to see topics in #davidwalshblog ranging from MooTools to jQuery to PHP to CSS and so on. Please sign on any time you'd like! If you need help or feel like helping others, #davidwalshblog will be a great place to do so. Of course you'll see me quite a bit, but you may even see special guest drop-ins like CSS-Tricks' Chris Coyier, Eric Wendelin, Christoph Pojer, and other Moo devs.
I will act as moderator along with super-helpful #mootools room members Garrick Cheung and Jabis. A special thanks to both of them. Remember, however, that when you need help with difficult MooTools issues, be sure to hit #mootools as well!
So why wait? Join the fun now! And if you don't have an IRC client, please support Pidgin!
![CSS 3D Folding Animation]()
Google Plus provides loads of inspiration for front-end developers, especially when it comes to the CSS and JavaScript wonders they create. Last year I duplicated their incredible PhotoStack effect with both MooTools and pure CSS; this time I'm going to duplicate...
![Create a CSS Flipping Animation]()
CSS animations are a lot of fun; the beauty of them is that through many simple properties, you can create anything from an elegant fade in to a WTF-Pixar-would-be-proud effect. One CSS effect somewhere in between is the CSS flip effect, whereby there's...
![CSS Fixed Position Background Image]()
Backgrounds have become an integral part of creating a web 2.0-esque website since gradients have become all the rage. If you think gradient backgrounds are too cliche, maybe a fixed position background would work for you? It does provide a neat inherent effect by...
![Using jQuery and MooTools Together]()
There's yet another reason to master more than one JavaScript library: you can use some of them together! Since MooTools is prototype-based and jQuery is not, jQuery and MooTools may be used together on the same page.
The XHTML and JavaScript
jQuery is namespaced so the...
Just a note, the links should not contain the # when linking to an IRC channel.
@Robbo: Updated — thank you!
You know what Dave? You should hold something like a weekly class or so (Like Chris’s Classes “screencasts”) in the IRC Channel. You, Garrick, or Jabis could tutor the audiences! And you can announce the next class here in the blog, or even make a poll for what the next class’s topic should be! What’cha think?
For those of us already on IRC you should state what server all these channels are on! ;D/
